About Us

Hounslow Community FoodBox was developed by London Borough of Hounslow together with local residents in response to the recent welfare reforms and recession that have seen many local employment opportunities reduced.

FoodBox continues to receive core funding from London Borough of Hounslow but is still dependent on funding, donations and volunteers to continue to provide this much needed service in the London Borough of Hounslow.

In addition to our core service, FoodBox also:

  • Provides opportunities for training and work experience, and is currently developing a community volunteering qualification with Cranford Community College
  • Campaigns on the prevention of malnutrition in children and young people
  • Offers social activities for those that live in the local community

We are also:

  • Working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, receiving funding in exchanging for providing training and work placements
  • Working in partnership with Cultivate West London to grow fresh food to give to FoodBox clients
  • Working with Grow UK to engage young people in planting shrubs to enhance the appearance of their neighbourhood
  • In the process of setting up a partnership with Thamesbank Credit Union
